Edward Moore house grants wedding wish

Edward Moore House grant a wish through The Wish Appeal, enabling resident, Brian Barnes, to attend his son’s wedding.

Staff used funds from the initiative to grant a wish for Brian, who desperately wanted to attend his son’s wedding but needed additional support to do so.

Edward Moore resident Brian was able to attend his son’s wedding on Saturday 3rd June, along with two of his carers, who provided support and care throughout the day, enabling him to enjoy himself and spend quality time with his family on their special day.

Upon his return to Edward Moore House, Brian told staff: “It was brilliant, I was apprehensive at first but on the day, I didn’t have to worry about anything, I couldn’t have asked for anything better.”

Brian’s daughter in law, Alison, commented: “It meant the world to us to have dad at the wedding, the carers were excellent, taking a huge responsibility away from us on our big day. We really enjoyed seeing him so happy, everyone noticed he was beaming and he was able to see relatives that he hadn’t seen for years.”

The Wish Appeal is a fundraising initiative created by The Abbeyfield Kent Society, which grants wishes for residents living in our care homes across the county. Whether the wish is to go to Florida, or enjoy a slap up meal at their favourite restaurant, they do what they can to make it happen, even if that means bringing Florida to them!
